I started off thinking, “OK, another how-to book on podcasting, aren’t there lots of those on Amazon already?” But as I got into it, what struck me were three things, beginning with the practicality of the content with all the links and recommendations on current resources.I also appreciated the advice on what the authors called “monetization,” essentially bringing us down to earth, as in: “don’t quit your day job, thinking you’re about to produce the next Serial.”But the biggest value to me was this: I thought, thanks for all this info, but speaking of monetization, can you make any money via podcasting? What can you charge clients for these services? I figured the book would leave me hanging, but as I kept reading Donna and Steve delivered - with actual descriptions of podcast production services, templates for proposal content and even recommended fees for various levels of consulting and podcast production. That alone is what makes this book so useful.

Yes, I need the large print edition. The pew copies are just too hard to read with the standing, kneeling and sitting. Most important though, is the page numbers match, so it's easy to use this book during services.

Just What I need, large print, heavy but can't be helped, very pleased with this

This is a large print paperback version which makes it easy to read, though not very portable. It is good for home use though not for travel. Of course the text is the traditional pre1979 version which I prefer.

I love reading the lovely words. I think I will have to buy the book also. Need it to be with n my hands.

I bought this for my mother who has MD. She reads her prayer book every night. She had been reading the same prayer book she had as a child, a palm size leather-bound book with print so small she had to read with a magnifying glass. This large print edition was perfect and, to the best of my ability to compare, exactly like the smaller 70 year old version. She no longer needs the magnifying glass.

It's all there, but hard to find. This was one of the first books I bought with my Kindle, but I found that reference books that are not meant to be read pages in sequence cover to cover, do not lend themselves to this format. I would like to have had a searchable index in order to key into specific rites and prayers. Even a page reference from the paper version would have been good.

I am an inquirer in the Anglican Church, and thrilled to at last own a copy of the Book of Common Prayer. I was initially attracted to this version by its vivid cover. Upon delivery, the book was in pristine condition and much bigger than I anticipated. I admittedly ordered this book on impulse, and had not looked closely enough to notice that it is the 1912 edition, and contains ceremonies and liturgy pertaining to the Church of England as well as the Scottish Episcopal Church.The language is eloquent and graceful, and I was especially moved by the Catechism. I would recommend this for anyone within or interested in the Anglican Church, or any Christian for that matter.

Well, I can't rate the BCP anything but positive. My only concern was I failed to read the size of the book and it was smaller then I would have liked, the pages are thin, but at the same time feel very "strong." It has the Daily Office and the complete Psalter. If only I had read the dimensions, I am sure I would have opted for a larger addition. If you don't have problems with smaller print, then by all means purchase this copy, you can't be the price. Also the binding it very good, the book while small, lays flat, whch is a really nice in a hardcover book of this size.

Lawrence D. I would highly recommend this book to both students and adults. The retelling of the DARPA Grand Challenges seriously made me regret not choosing a career in engineering. And the explanation of how the autonomous vehicle has evolved over time was gripping, not only because of the breadth of topics covered (e.g., engineering, mathematics, public policy, business, etc.), but also because of all the known and unknown people you learn about. An exciting and fascinating tale of the past, present and future of autonomous vehicles.

Burns is a former GM exec who for years engaged in the thankless task of reforming the company from with, to steer it toward a greener future. He scored some successes by securing GM sponsorship of prestigious teams in autonomous driving competitions in the early 2000’s, but ultimately inertia of the old guard combined with economic downturns and bankruptcy convinced him that he could effect more change by being outside of GM than staying within.This is a riveting insider tale of the first decades in the quest for developing and marketing autonomous vehicles. Featuring enough technical information to give geeks something to enjoy while not burying the reader with arcane engineering detail, this work strikes the perfect mix. The chapters on the first DARPA autonomous vehicle challenges are particularly compelling and are told in a vivid, page-turning manner.The author retells the many personal conflicts that plagued the business in the later years, some of which impacted him, but by and large he manages to put his personal biases aside and tell the story in an informative and reasonable manner. However, despite his intentions, the reader can still detect an anti-Uber tilt, although he is open about his allegiances and interests. Another improvement could have been to address some of the autonomous vehicle activity outside of North America. While North America in general and the Detroit-Silicon Valley rivalry (which eventually, as he points out, became a collaboration) in particular were a clear driving force in the development of the autonomous car, there could have been a few more comments on what was happening outside the continent. Ethical issues, too, could have benefited from a little more coverage.But these are quibbles. Written in a very readable style by a man with deep knowledge of the car business, this is an excellent introduction to the field and a must-read for all who want to know how we got here and where we’re going. It will make you an optimist.

I can’t get this subject matter of this book out of my mind.Lawrence Burns starts with a concise, researched summary of the current situation with all of us guzzling fuel to drive a heavy, larger than needed car from one parking spot to another on our occasional trips in our mostly idle personal autos.I’m in Oakland CA and until reading this book saw no hope for any future solution to Bay area traffic. But Burns lays out the dramatic reduction in “cars” needed if we move from personally owned autos to fleets of driverless cars readily responding to our calls for rides to whatever destinations we have.Any politician or other public official facing traffic issues should, after reading this book, want their jurisdiction at the head of the line for those city managers thoughtful enough to lead their municipalities in participation in testing these vehicles.Yes, very sadly there will be tragedies ahead with these vehicles – we’ve already seen some and they too are well documented in this book. But these vehicles have the potential and the promise of dramatic future reduction in accidents. Burns strongly makes that case.I had a first-hand seat to the advent of the digital camera era and as a result to Kodak losing its enormous businesses in film, in paper, in chemicals, and in picture developing/printing. The automobile and energy production and maintenance businesses face the same fate at the same pace that Kodak faced. If you’re in any business dependent on automobiles – from manufacturing, to parts production, to sales, to servicing, to gasoline production/sales, to parking, to insurance – this book will lead you through rethinking the future of your businesses. Don’t believe it? Don’t think it will happen in the “near” future? Read this book and it’ll make you rethink your futures.My hope is that this happens before my own car needs replacement, as I’m hopeful it will be the last car I ever own.

I love this book. It's an amazing read for everyone, but I would especially recommend this for young-adult readers who want to understand how to learn to live well after going through horrible experiences. All of us can relate to these human experiences but this book also reminds us how much we need to love each other.

It was good but not all the book linked into my kindle. Lost quite a bit of the last of each chapter.

Depressing!

This book tells the heartbreaking stories of three women who escaped sexual slavery and then went on to help others. It tells the stories of Somaly Mam, who was forced into prostitution in Cambodia, Minh Dang, whose parents sexually abused her as a child and then forced her into prostitution in the United States and Maria Suarez who was kidnapped and forced to be a slave to a man in California. There is a chapter at the end of the book that explains sex-trafficking and who it is happening to, where, why and how we can help to break the cycle. The stories are sad and tragic and show how the women involved in sex-trafficking are all victims. I like the Sweedish model of prosecution in which the people who buy sex are punished rather than the people who are being sold. I think that the US and the rest of the world should use this way of prosecuting the real criminals, who are the men, rather than the girls and women who are forced into having sex with men and who did not choose to do it and who usually do not receive any of the money that is paid for the abuse of their bodies.

What makes this book great, though, is her ability to successfully make us aware of the all-out pervasiveness of trafficking while also providing us with hope through the testimonies of strong women and through practical, informative ways to get involved in ending this practice.As a teacher, I wish I could require all parents (and their children, when they're ready) to read this. I know it's making me hold my daughter a little tighter tonight, and I wish parents would educate themselves as to the dangers around their children. Abby Sher has done an amazing job putting together a valuable resource and an answer to the questions of what trafficking is, how it can happen, and why we can't ignore it.

Outstanding! Beautiful, heavy, nicely designed book. The introduction is excellent, and the brief intros to each play are concise and clear. All the plays are translated with the greatest level of scholarship. This is a book both for the lay reader and the thoughtful scholar -- challenging but accessible, and an overall intelligence that is lacking in so many books that have 'ancient history' focus.I consider this one of the best books I've gotten in a while, no matter what the category.

I'd say it's the best translation of the plays I've read so far -- with some clumsy bits to provide the exceptions.

Everything about the choices of translation is thoroughly explained. The poetry was a bit lost in some of the plays, if one was to compare it with older translations. So for if one is looking to create ancient theatre scenes, some other translations could work better.

This book is an excellent selection of most of the major Greek tragedies. The translations and notes are truly outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed each of the plays.

Very detailed in writing in the introductions of this well-written book. Very well translated and clear with the writing of the stories aswell.

Astounding to reread these plays after 60 years and find the new translation to refreshingly new that it would seem they were written just yesterday!
