This reference guide was better than I expected. Their is detailed information about every GLOCK model, including the ones that aren't available in the U.S. and why. Sadly, the book went to print before the author could test the new G43, but their is a free PDF of an additional chapter covering the G43 available on the publisher's web site. The link is at the end of the book, and with the free PDF, this really is the complete guide to every GLOCK model ever produced. It even covers GLOCK's accessories (knives, entrenching tool, lights, holsters, etc.), maintenance, GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF), armorer's course, and suppressors.If you want to know everything there is about your GLOCK, and the GLOCKs you don't have yet, this is the perfect guide for you.

This is the single best reference on the history and comparisons between different generations, models, calibers and variations of Glock pistols. The photographs of key parts are excellent as well. It is well written, clear and comprehensive. I thought I knew a lot about Glocks but that was before I read Robb's book. If you are going to buy only one book about Glocks, this is the one to buy.

If you like Glocks and want to know more about them, then this is the book for you. Manning does an excellent job of walking the reader through all versions of the Glocks through the G42 gen 4 (The G43 is mentioned). He covers every Glock to include the different types of magazines, grips, etc. It helps that he also writes well. My only complaint and the only reason I did not give this five stars is the quality of the printing of the photos. The photos themselves are fine, but the printing is not crisp enough for me. The author also uses arrows to point to specific areas of the photos. Unfortunately, they are color arrows, red, I think, and that does not show up well in a black and white photo. Nonetheless, you can, with a little effort, see what the author wishes you to see, and I still believe this is a book that should belong in any Glock owner's/lover's library. Actually, it should be in the library of anyone who enjoys using and reading about pistols of all types.

If you are a collector like me and have a Kimber, Beretta, Springfield, Taurus, Smith & Wesson, Dan Wesson, Colt and the like, I admonish you to read this book. I am now a solid believer in the Glock line. I have 2 and will most likely start trading up to having only Glock in my collection. The book is that well done, it covers everything you ever wanted to know and understand about their products. If you already own one, buy this book.

Everything the average Glock owner would like to know about the history and functionality of the entire Glock family of handguns. I am not a gun "enthusiast," but I have chosen one of the smaller Glocks for concealed carry and will likely buy one of the larger Glocks for home protection. I think it's safer for me to stay within a single family of handguns so my training and practice will, at least to some extent, extend from one model to the other. I might branch out to owning other fine handguns over time, but for now this book confirms that I've chosen well in starting with Glocks.

Pretty indepth guide for the time it was published. Of course, now we have the Glock 43 (Which are was absent from the book) and the Gen5 versions of Glock. Robb Manning did a good job in breaking down the generations of Glock from gen 1 to gen 4. His little history on the Gen 3 made me understand why they are so popular despite the newer generations.He covered the interesting topic of buying suppressors for the Glocks, a subject seldom touched on.However, I would have liked to see more topics on rare Glock models as well as the craze of custom shops such as Salient, Zev and Agency Arms who have taken customization of the Glock to the next level. Also would have liked to know more about the USA made Glocks and the actual Austrian Proof marked versions.Still if your a Glock fan or just getting into them, this is a great reference guide to place in your collection.

Everything you wanted and need to know about Glock pistols is in this book, plenty of great photos and model comparisons , The author breaks it all down. Whether you own one or many Glocks this book is for you ! Just but it!

A very good reference for all things GLOCK. Its hard to keep all their different models straight, this book really helps when one needs to look up details. 4 stars instead of 5 because the typeface is just too small to read comfortably. It would be better if this were an 8.5" x 11" format instead of the 6" x 9" that it actually is to enable a larger font. Otherwise, great book!

As you would expect from David Sedaris, this disc is completely hilarious and should help tide you over until his forthcoming "Untitled Collection" is released in June. I imagine that many of the essays he reads on this disc (most were originally published by Esquire) will find their way into that book.As he proved with Me Talk Pretty One Day, David Sedaris is at his best when he's exposing cultural differences, as illustrated through language and tradition (especially religious customs, with all of the associated secular trimmings). From the questions he chooses to ask upon arriving in a new country (his first is always "what do your roosters say?") to his confusion with the languages that humans speak (the French use the same word for chef and boss), his unique perspective shines a different light on some very funny, if not always particularly significant, truths.If you were moved to tears by his attempt, in French, to describe the basic tenets of Easter, you'll certainly feel the same about his description of the practice of Christmas in the Netherlands. Evidently, though the Dutch think the idea of Santa employing elves is freakish and disgusting, they see nothing wrong with a Santa who is assisted on his yearly journey by "six to eight black men" (according to tradition, they were once slaves, but now they're just Santa's close friends).My only criticism is that two of the tracks are rereadings of excerpts from The David Sedaris Box Set (they're bonus tracks, originally taken from the Esquire article "Buddy, Can You Spare a Tie?," but they're on the Barrel Fever disc of the box set). Still, at least they're quite funny, so you don't mind hearing them again. You just might wish that the CD were longer and included only new material.

I heard David first on the Moth radio and would laugh just trying to tell others how funny he is. Totally off the wall and really funny! Maybe it is a Greek thing, but his family life sounds very much like the family in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding in that assumptions are made about products, food, life, and relationships that are really different from how some of us are raised.

I am a huge fan of David Sedaris' writings. When I saw he had an audio CD, I was more curious than anything to buy it. The comedic timing of Sedaris is something you don't get just by reading. To hear the stories as the author intended them for you to read them is insight to the stories on another level.I also enjoyed the Q&A section of the disc, even though it is brief. All of the tracks can be found in his books, so there is nothing really new on the CD for the devoted fans. Still, funny as anything and a great thing to listen to in the car.

He's always the best. Listen to this CD so much I scratched it to bits and had to buy another

David Sedaris is an author who wanders around the world, experiencing life, and then writing about it in funny and touching ways. The first story he tells on this CD epitomizes that, as it's about how his family thinks about him and his little notebook, what life might be like if it was made into a movie, a story about the death of a dog, and ends with ... well, you'll just have to listen to the CD to find out.Sedaris is an excellent word smith, and he is quite the storyteller. From lunatic birds to Christmas in the Netherlands, from peeing in your pants to losing love, David Sedaris is able to entertain, enlighten, and communicate with ease. I highly recommend buying this CD.

My sister-in-law gave us this cd a few years ago to listen to on our trip home after a visit with her and my brother-in-law. We had a 5 hour drive from Dallas to home. It was a good thing we visited the restroom before we left. We were in Dallas traffic laughing so hard at Mr. Sedaris' stories, we would have peed our pants otherwise! He is a treasure!!!! I gave this purchase as a Christmas gift to a friend of mine. She loved it!

David Sedaris is always better live, and this CD has some great selections. Laugh-out-loud funny. We listen to it over and over again.

If you're a fan of his books, you'll really enjoy this cd. I still listen to it after owning it for a couple of years, and it still makes me laugh out loud. His deadpan delivery makes the material even funnier than reading it. I had the pleasure of seeing him in person in Champaign, Illinois, and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it.

If you’ve read Lines you have been introduced to Andrew and Jeanette. I have been looking forward to their story since we first met them. I knew there was something more to them, something that pointed to the way the both acted, but this was not what I even expected, it was so much more.Andrew is a womanizer and Jeanette is known as the ice queen. Of course, Andrew enjoys annoying her but there is also an attraction between the two. Jeanette is fighting her attraction to Andrew, she knows she should go to him, but she can’t help it. What happens when secrets come out and these two give into each other?I was not expecting this story. I knew that each of their back stories would be deep and emotional, but they were nothing like I expected. It was a great surprise. I loved this story. It was emotional, it was sweet, and it was steamy. Andrew is a character you can’t help but hate, but by the end of this I was swooning over him.I enjoyed this story so much more than Lines. It was more emotional, it was hotter, and I felt like we got to know the characters better. Plus, the banter between Andrew and Jeanette was fantastic.I can’t wait for book 3 to come out!

I loved this book!! Jeanette and Andrew both have serious issues in their lives, and the author handled it beautifully. This was poignant, and from the heart you can tell. We see Derek and Amelia from the first book "Lines" and it was great to see how they were doing. The consistency of writing in this book was great, and the story line very relatable and of the time.Told with a depth of feelings, the characters wade through life one day at a time. The chemistry and sparks between the two was off the charts. We see the whole story from both points of view, and you really get into the heads of the characters. This is for sure a mature YA book, I would say no one under 17. To be safe 18+ is more apt. Depending on the level of maturity. There is swearing, sex, and drug use. So just use your judgement. I couldn't get enough, but I am also old.LOL Take it for what it's worth, but this is a definite read.

What a great premise! What a disappointing book. I am most frustrated in this book because it had so much promise. Many readers may be directed to this book through the podcast Freakonomics, which is where I first heard of it, but sadly the podcast was much more entertaining and informative than the actual book.STRUCTURE. The book on which the title is based, How to Win Friends and Influence People, succeeds because of a series of central themes applied across various situations. It was simple but covered multiple situations. Unfortunately this book tackles 30 very different games (including Monopoly, Competitive Eating, and Stone Skipping) without any connective ideas, meaning that you cover Drinking Games in three pages.CONTENT. By the time you explain what the game is and basic research, you have precious little time to cover actual strategies. For Drinking Games, the key is to practice in the context of the drinking game. For Charades, the secret is to be collaborative and preferably have signals already worked out. I was not impressed with any game strategy, nor do I believe I will be more successful in games. Perhaps focusing on fewer games and more relatable advice would be better served. In many chapters, the content is more about funny stories than actual strategies, leaving one or two sentences at the end for the unoriginal advice. Even more in-depth chapters like the Connect Four one end up explaining complicated concepts in a few sentences without graphs or examples.CONCLUSION. I wanted to like this book, but now I can only hope that you, fellow reader, don't fall into the same mistake I did. Save your money for something else.

This book is OK. Some areas have advice, some don't. Checkers or draughts, has slightly interesting info, but no advice. It also introduced a classic problem, then doesn't bother to explain the answer. Some chapters are clear. Others have such poor sentence construction that they take several rereads to understand. That's not a UK / American thing, I've lived both. There's a freakonomics podcast containing a competition with the author. It was more interesting than the final work.

It's a fun book to read. For some of the games, the hints and strategies are described with enough detail to be useful. But for more than half of the games mentioned, strategies are either too vague to be understood, or simply not there. Being interested in strategic game-playing in general, with a specific focus in game strategy analysis, this book missed the point for me. I think it makes a good starting point for anyone interested in understanding how difficult some «easy» games really are, without delving much into detail.

Interesting background for various games, but not the depth or "insider secrets" I was hoping for.

If you are looking for a guide to winning popular games, look elsewhere. This is simply a humor book, with a British accent.

My nephew appreciated the logic and the points for winning.

An intriguing insiders look at how to win at classic games. Really enjoyable read and can’t wait to flog my kids at Scrabble.

As someone that was saved out of the charismatic movement, I found this audio book most insightful. I'm so glad that someone finally had the gumption to take on the most pressing issue of the Church today. This is a hard hitting, pull no punches expose of what's happening to Churches all over the world and the consequences of extra-biblical nonsense. John MacArthur has taken so much abuse for writing this but it had to be done. I wholeheartedly endorse this book! After spending forty miserable years enduring false teachings, false doctrine and experiential roller coaster rides, my feet are now firmly planted in the word of God. I am no longer subject to emotional let downs and confusion, I've had to unlearn so much of the error I was taught. Years ago when I would hear John MacArthur come on the radio I would often say out loud "I can't stand that guy!" or "he's a religious jerk!" John has now become my favorite teacher of the word. Faith comes from hearing the word, not from encounters or experiences that have no biblical basis. Anyone that loves God loves truth and will not shrink away from it. If you're in the charismatic movement...you need to read this book and allow the truth to penetrate the error that's been instilled in your mind!

As a former 'charismatic', I cannot help but feel deceived at the unbalanced doctrine and unbiblical nature of the pentecostal movement. Macarthur carefully and systematically traces the history of the pentecostal 'revivals', revealing the selfish and intentional distortions of God's word by a few corrupt men. Myself, I have personally experienced many of the false teachings and practices Macarthur points out. I am glad to be out of the unbalanced pentecostal environment.I have one word of advice for Macarthur however. I understand your anger and annoyance with the pentecostals. I cannot help but feel it is a scam. But there are also many sincere people who have found their faith within the movement and are now trying to work out their salvation. Your book is the strongest exposition against pentecostal fallacies, but please tone down some of the language. Not that you shouldn't be angry, but many who read your book were once 'charismatics'.

I was a fence-sitter on the continuation/cessation topic for years, never really researching it enough to pick a side. My position was that while the gifts could continue, I'd never seen them done properly (i.e., those enamored with the gift of tongues never obeyed the handful of verses governing their use).Now that I've read this book and understand the history and Bible verses better, I'm a cessationist. As MacArthur notes, even the good guys on the cessasionist side concede that many things have ceased (e.g, foreign language tongues, immediate/full/public healings, infallible prophets). So the debate is over what allegedly continues and why.The history MacArthur provided was very helpful in understanding how this came about.Read this book!

This book is an outgrowth of the Strange Fire conference that MacArthur hosted in 2013. As has been the case with the cessationist/continuationist debate, no doubt the book will be met with divided opinions, sometimes bitterly divided.MacArthur’s thesis is that the modern-day Charismatic and Pentecostal modes of worship, which focus on the employment of the charismatic gifts common to the apostolic church of the first century, constitutes worship foreign to what Scripture provides for the post-apostolic church—hence the title, “Strange Fire.”While he treats the leading theological lights of the movement (genuine, credible scholars such as Grudem and Piper) with respect, nonetheless MacArthur makes a strong case that the movement in the main is theologically aberrant, having been swallowed up by the false gospel of prosperity and health. Using a deluge of well-documented statistics, he shows that the vast majority of the charismatic and Pentecostal movement have adopted the prosperity gospel—and that the number of responsible scholars in the movement who remain faithful to the true gospel is vanishingly small. These two charges (improper worship, and the majority pursuing the prosperity gospel) form the core of the author’s contention.Part One documents the beginnings and history of Pentecostalism and its spin-off, the charismatic movement. Of particular note was the original Pentecostal view of modern manifestation of tongues (they were considered known languages by the founders of the movement), contrasted with the doctrinal change made necessary when it became clear the modern manifestation was not known languages. Uncomfortable to some readers will be the exposure of the doctrinal and behavioral deviations of the founders of the movement.Part Two takes the charismatic gifts one by one (the gifts of apostleship, prophecy, tongues, and healing) and explores the movement’s doctrinal claims for their continuation. Using solid exegesis, MacArthur makes his case for why he believes these gifts have ceased and that the modern demonstrations of them are wholly illegitimate. Some readers will again be very uncomfortable with the heavily documented exposure of many of the movement’s leaders and adherents.In Part Three, MacArthur lays out what he believes to be an accurate exposition of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. He concludes with “An Open Letter to my Continuationist Friends,” in which he pleads with them to consider the harm their positions are doing to the Church.While John MacArthur can at times really turn me off with his harsh polemics, I find it very difficult to dispute with his contentions in this book. He has made a strong case for his position. One of the things I gain from the book is the understanding that the moment you allow subjective experience to govern your hermeneutics, you have just thrown away the guardrails of doctrine. Grudem and Piper, though I love them and read their books, are hard pressed to contend with the abuses of the movement they have aligned with. When subjective experience has been allowed to inform their theology, they cannot very well question someone else’s experience—they would have to saw off the limb on which they themselves are perching.Four stars. Highly recommended.

This book works through the necessary history and the theology in a straightforward, clear, and cogent manner that I would commend to anyone.
