This is the most accessible Korean food to make at home, they also have their own creations like the Nachos kimchi fries, bulgogi burger. They feature essential pantry of Korean ingredients. Glad the authors used both imperial and metric measurements on their recipes.I had tried the nachos kimchi fries and the bulgogi burger are great.It is great that second generation of Korean 8mmigrants go back to Korea to know more about their heritage and culture. Then introduce fusion foods to Koreans which is cool.Great Korean cookbook with great stories and food experiences.

If this book had only the Bulgogi Burger recipe, it would still be worth purchasing! It is truly the BEST burger I have ever made and I've tried many....stuffed, mixed meats, different herbs, but none of them compare to the wonderful sloppiness of this burger dipped in bulgogi sauce and topped with the mustard pickled onions. And, as an added bonus, the recipe is quite easy!

I have experimented with making kimchi over the years and was introduced to this book by my brother, who is always exploring foods from a diverse array of cultures. I have made at least four batches of the kimchi from this book and they have all been amazingly delicious, garnering much praise from kimchi lovers. The breadth and depth of flavor that this recipe creates is what I have always been looking for in kimchi. I highly recommend this book, even if you only use the kimchi recipe!

It wasn't quite what I expected, but it's got a lot of good info. A lot of the food is fusion (Kimchi Mac & Cheese). There's detailed info on fermentation, detailed photos. I compare the recipes with my other K-books. Frankly, of the things I've made, I don't care for most of them. But I'm learning and that's the point. Of all my books, their recipe for kimchi water radish is the most direct and manageable. I don't have a separate fridge for kimchi. If I made 5 gallons of something, I'd have to throw most of it out. I'm also trying to develop a more sophisticated palate, and even learning what I don't care for as much, is helpful. They have a recipe for mango kimchi that sounded fabulous, but after fermenting at room temp for a few days,chilling for a few more, the mangoes were pure mush - and I used unripe ones to begin with, as they suggest. If you're really into K-food, I'd totally suggest this. Info is info.

It's been a long time since I actually found myself laughing out loud at a book, but Save the Date had me doing just that every few pages! Matson's latest novel follows the Grant family during the weekend of their oldest daughter, Linnie's wedding. Our main character, Charlie Grant, is thrilled to have her older siblings home for the event and is determined to make everything perfect; until the wedding planner quits, and chaos ensues.Overall, I enjoyed Save the Date. The focus of this book was definitely on the dynamics of the Grant family, and they were so much fun to read about! The Grant's are dysfunctional and wild, but their flaws only made them that much more realistic. The siblings dynamics were wonderfully portrayed, and served for many hysterical moments. Each of the Grant siblings were lovable, but I found "DJJJ" to be a stand-out character. Fans of Matson's The Unexpected Everything can also look forward to cameos from a few certain characters ;)My biggest complaint about this book is the pacing. Having the book set over the course of one weekend really kept this from being a 5-star read for me, because I kept wanting MORE from certain relationships, but there wasn't enough time to see them develop. I especially think this hindered the romantic plot, since there was more pining than actual romance; in fact, the romance at times felt more like an obligation than a supplement to the storyline.Save the Date comes up short to some of Matson's other works, but is still a very funny, light-hearted read I would recommend for this summer!

And the 'com' part of romcom was definitely there. There were a ton of laugh-out-loud moments. But if you want romance, this really isn't the book for you. And that is fine, it just wasn't what I was expecting.This story is told from the perspective of Charlie Grant, a high school senior and the youngest of five children. Charlie has been looking forward to her sister's wedding weekend for, like, EVER because her entire beloved family will be together again. All her older brothers (three of them), and her older sister have moved away for school/work, and she misses her family more than anything. Her sister, Linnie, wants to have the wedding at their family home before their parents sell the house in a couple of months. So, everyone is together again for the weekend!In addition, the Grant family is famous. Their mother has chronicled their entire lives through a 'fictional' comic strip that is nationally famous and titled Grant Central Station . So on top of the wedding, Good Morning America is also there that weekend interviewing the famous Grants as the comic strip is coming to an end.What happens over wedding weekend is a series of one disaster after the other, and Charlie slowly realizes that her family isn't as perfect as she thinks. The disasters are the funny bits, and I'm pleased my wedding didn't have even half of the things that were in the story. *SHUDDER*This was cute, but Charlie irritated the living crap out of me. If I had to hear, one more time, how she was so happy because "this" was what she had envisioned forever, blah blah blah, I was going to throw my Kindle across the room.Aside from that, this is a feel-good story with a solid learning lesson at the end. :)

I’m not usually a half star kind of person but ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ // 5 for this joyful and realistic family drama-comedy. The story timeline is easy to follow and I felt that the pace was appropriate for each situation. Set during the weekend of a wedding we get all the quirks and comedy of things going wrong, the joy and frustration of being with family, and the growth and change of characters. Similar to the rom/com style movies it has moments of predictability. Matson’s writing style far outshined that fact and left me feeling content and fulfilled. I wouldn’t mind continuing this family on their new adventures.

Save the Date is a perfect mix of everything I love in YA. I really enjoyed Matson's writing of the family, their relationship with each other, and Charlie's overall story. The events leading up to the wedding were just a constant cringe in the best way possible. When something was hinted at being ruined, I knew how it all would go down before reading the next page, but still enjoyed it nonetheless. The second hand embarrassment and frustration was strong with this one. I also enjoyed Charlie's perspective on the world around her. I loved reading her story and her feelings towards everyone in her family and her desire to fit her family into a perfect box only to have everything come crumbling out at the end. The way Matson wrote Charlie and her growth in the story was one of the best I've read so far in a contemporary story. I also did enjoy the addition of the comics, and, I'm not going to lie, I did cry at the final one Charlie's mom did for Grant Central Station. I think this whole book was just wonderful to read. I almost didn't want to leave the characters by the end because they were all so much fun! Definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Matson's other stuff or is in need of a wholesome and good contemporary read.

I did not finish studying but received many very useful tips and information. I am a beginner in SFCE and have to learn a lot out of all the information. What I have seen up today its a very usefull book I can recomend you. More details I can tell when finising study.

This is an expensive book, but worth every penny. Packed with practical information presented in a no-nonsense style. If you are interested in SCFE, this is the best book I have found so far, I only wish the author had other books offered on Amazon! The book has excellent diagrams for many extraction mechanisms, not merely SCFE. The author also provides an excellent description of the various types of botanical extracts, and historical methods also. Much detail that will be of interest to anyone involved with essential oils or other botanical extracts for perfumery, cosmetics or the food industry.

This is one of the best books I've read on the subject. Some of it is very high level and above my ability, but much of it is written in easily understandable language, and the excellent graphs and charts make the subject much more accessible. This is definitely a cornerstone in my library.

This book covers one of the most interesting topics for producing natural extracts without solvent residues in the product. Further it is possible to fractionate the products by changing pressure and temperature in the down stream process very low energy consumption compared to traditional methods.I am wondering why there is no stronger interest from industry for this technology, because up to now only few plants of industrial scale are operated with this technology, although a lot of research work has been done up to now.I hope that this book rises the interest for this very actual and profitable technology. I am doing research in high pressure extraction for more than 10 years but it is very difficult to pursade the industrial partner to introduce such a plant in their companies.I want to gratulate the author for this very detailed and good understandable book.Thomas Gamse

Kaku recognizes that making predictions hundreds, thousand or even millions of years into the future using the scientific understanding current in 2018 is obviously going to be widely speculative. Yes, many of these predictions will be falsified in the next fifty years.But Kaku has not set out to write a book containing only the most reasonable predictions for the longest time span. He has instead tried to help reignite public interest in science—particle physics, astrophysics, space exploration—that Americans shared before descending into the cultural wars which have been ongoing since the 1970s.If you think of Kaku as in the line of Isaac Asimov and H.G. Wells, who he cites frequently in the text, then you won’t be bothered by speculations like how humankind could build an intergalactic civilization. Of course, Kaku is also an accomplished scientist but, in this plainly written though highly imaginative work, he is less trying to make the most realistic predictions possible and more trying to make science as interesting as possible.In this he succeeds quite well. As a result two chimpanzees have more genetic variation than all human beings combined; we differ by .01 of a percent. And this wasn't the only time the Earth was almost destroyed. Most everyone knows about how the dinosaurs disappeared.So . . . why are we here? According to Michio Kaku Jupiter is our guardian angel, deflecting most asteroids, comets and other space clutter that could kill us. Earth is a “Goldilocks Planet”, not too hot, not cold, with an atmosphere that's no too dense and a magnetic field and an ozone layer that deflects ultra-violet rays from frying us alive. How many “Goldilocks planets are there in our galaxy? Possibly hundreds of thousands, but a lot depends on plane old luck. We have been lucky. Just last year an asteroid came within a thirty-some thousand miles of the Earth.How do scientists know which planets are like us? They can't see them, but the Kepler and the Hubble telescopes look at the brightness of certain stars; when they dim in a certain way, it means something is blocking their light. Scientists are able to tell the size of the planet by how much it affects the light from its host star.Kaku discusses the effect of Obama's decision to shut down the shuttle program. He was hoping private business would get involved, and they have in a big way. Elon Musk has a billion dollar contract to provision the international space station, and he has delivered supplies several times. He is planning a Mars landing by 2024; he already has a rocket whose booster can land on an ocean platform. This rocket can take us to Mars. NASA isn't quite that optimistic. They plan to put a man on Mars by 2035, using the moon as a base.Stephen J. Hawking maintains that if we can make it through the next two hundred years and not destroy ourselves via terrorism and nuclear war or pollution we can evolve in respect to reaching the stars. A Russian scientist, Nikolai Kardashev has created a scale of civilizations: Type I uses all of the energy from the light provided by its star; Type II uses all the energy the sun produces (think fusion); Type III uses all the energy in the entire galaxy. Obviously we're not even a Type I civilization since we don't use all the sunlight the Sun provides. We're about a 0.7 civilization.If we survive it's pretty much a given we'll have a settlement on Mars by mid century and we'll start terraforming it. It's too cold up there with hardly any atmosphere. We can warm it up by injecting methane into its atmosphere.Scientists have also discovered several moons of Jupiter and Saturn that have water. We can use them as bases to move beyond the solar system.Eventually, Kaku gets around to his pet theory, string theory which mathematically combines Einstein's theory of relativity and quantum theory. It consists of ten dimensions, but we can't prove it until we become a Type III civilization. We can chip away at it, using the Super colliders, the CERN in Switzerland which has already discovered the Higgs Boson particle, an indicator of dark matter, and a new one being built by the Japanese in conjunction with other countries. String theory will help us discover what's inside a Worm Hole, whether or not we can pass through one without being crushed. Supposedly if we can pass through a Worm Hole, we can take a short cut to the opposite side of the galaxy. String Theory also allows for the possibility of multi universes. Kaku talks about universes “popping in and out of existence”. We're looking for the stable ones. Why? Because other galaxies are racing away from us at exponential speed. If this keeps up, we're in for a “Big Freeze” and everything will die. String theory allows for us to move not just to another star, but another universe. If you're the paranoid type, stop worrying. This won't happen for billions maybe trillions of years.

Excellent book with a very interesting piece by Norman Mailer at it's core. Well produced with many memorable photographs by a lot of great photographers on high quality paper. A bargain st Amazon's price.

I gave this book as a gift, but my Mom couldn't hold it to enjoy. Donated it to our library.

Classic mini-novel by Mailer in a well-designed book

Memorable look at JFK

it was a gift for my grandson, he loved it

Picked this collector's edition up in London at Harrods, attracted by the topic. My father helped run the JFK campaign in New Hampshire and West Virginia and was active in the LA convention. The hundreds of black and white pictures and commentary of the campaign were absorbing, and the original Norman Mailer piece was interesting again. Not sure it would have the emotional appeal to someone without the personal interest, but I found it exciting to go back to the way politics used to be, warts and all.
